Track and Field
The track and field day for grades 3-5 that was originally scheduled for Wednesday May 15th has been changed. It will now be held on Thursday May 16th on the Lakeshore playground. Food and drink will be sold courtesy of the Parent Council. A reminder to dress according to the weather and hats and sunscreen are encouraged.

– Oral presentations: Presentations start Monday April 22nd, 2013.
Curriculum
Expectations:
- Organize my thoughts and information to convey a message
- Prepare and give an oral presentation on a topic of personal interest
- Create media works using appropriate technologies
- Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of spoken texts and media works by asking questions, clarifying meaning, drawing conclusions, and expressing opinions.
Learning
Goal & Purpose:
To create and
present an oral presentation in french on a topic of personal
interest. The purpose is to increase and deepen my knowledge and
understanding of my chosen topic and to increase my level of comfort
speaking french in front of my peers.
Success
Criteria
- My presentation has a clear purpose (to inform, to entertain, to persuade, to teach).
- My presentation is organized. It has an introduction, body, and conclusion.
- My presentation is easy to understand. I spoke clearly with enough volume that the entire class could hear my presentation, I used grade level vocabulary, and I chose an appropriate topic.
- I listened respectfully to the presentations of others and took my time to answer the reflection questions to best of my ability.

Science poster success criteria
We will be starting the good copy of our science posters on Monday February 25th. The students have been researching a selected human body system and will be given a poster with an outline.
Science Task: Due Friday March 1, 2013.
Curriculum Expectation: Design a model to demonstrate how organs or components of a body system in the human body work and interact with other components.
Learning Goal & Purpose:
To design a poster of a human body system complete with labels and brief explanations of the function of it's parts. The purpose is to increase and deepen my knowledge and understanding of the most important ideas related to the body system I have chosen
Success Criteria
- My poster includes all essential parts with supporting information.
- My Poster is error-free and easy to read from a distance of a few feet.
- My poster has graphics/lay-out that enhance the presentation and purpose.
- I have made appropriate choices to increase the appearance of my poster (e.g., underlined titles and labels, typing my information or going over the letters with a fine marker, colouring with care the different organs).
